Thirty years

It was Doley's 30th birthday today! I baked him a pie. The last time we ate pie, was at the cottage. It looked like this:



In his honour, here's a picture of a tree I took outside our place today, to document the season.


On Saturday, there'll be a get-together to celebrate. It's the big three-oh for Ryro. I don't know where we'll be going... but I'll let all the Ryan posse know as soon as I can. I'll also do my best to ensure there are embarassing pictures to document the occasion for posterity.

Tumbling into hibernation

For a while there, I was pretty good about the blogging, but now it's been a month since my last post. not that there has been a lack of things to write about. A ton is happening, esepecially in the last week. Between me and those close to me, a cellphone has been lost (mine), a grandma has passed on (not mine, but still sad), and hearts all around have been bruised and beaten up.

I was looking at my travel journal from last year, and today last year I travelled from Granada to Cordoba. Now, I'm settling into a winter back "home". And for the first time in a while I'm thinking about what I'm going to be doing long term... after spending much of the last year not thinking about life much more than a couple of months ahead. Not that I've come to too many conclusions, really. I feel like I'm entering another period, like this time last year, where my life could be pulled in a lot of different directions pretty soon. And I'll need to pick a thread and follow where it leads.

In more mundane details, the fall has been beautiful. I've started drinking huge amounts of tea, making my way through different kinds of Stash teas. I also joined Karma Food Co-op this week, which should be cool.

Anyway, I'll try to write more soon. Come out to the Queenshead tonight. To be honest, I don't know who's going to be djing besides me... I'm going to call Rich and my brother to see if they can make it. Next week DJ Nothing (Andria) and DJ Dirka Dirka (aka Derek) will be helping out. See y'all there.
